1952 Topps Set Stolen at Florida Sports Card Shop

Dan's Sports Cards in Orange Park, Florida was the victim of a burglary early Monday morning.

Long-time shop owner and collector Dan Williams lost $100,000 worth of vintage baseball cards including a complete 1952 Topps baseball set. The Mickey Mantle card alone was worth at least $30,000 according to Williams, who also lost a 1963 Fleer set, a stash of 1960s Post Cereal cards.

That helmet Joe Namath supposedly wore in Super Bowl III and gave to a young fan is an old Jets helmet from that era, but it's apparently not the one Joe Willie used in the upset of the Colts. It doesn't match up with game photos and video. Heritage Auctions had been planning to sell the helmet with a minimum bid of $50K, but has pulled the item from its web site.
